THE HOUSE BY THE SEAWrite

CHAPTER ONE

The room upstairs

By the time Nora found the key, the house had learned to be quiet without her.

She stood in the doorway with her coat still on, listening to the sea through an open window.

Someone had left a cup on the desk. Beside it, a sheet of paper, folded once.

She knew the handwriting.

Just you and the page.
A NOTE FOR LATER

What if she already
knows who left it?

A glimpse of the feeling. Fictional sample text.

No AI generation. No AI rewriting.Human creativity, centre stage.

FROM A SPARK TO A MANUSCRIPT

Room for every part
of the story.

Writing is more than putting words in order. Sometimes you need to see the shape of things. Sometimes you need everything else to disappear.

01 / WRITE

Let the page be a page.

Comfortable typography, a quiet writing view, and formatting you can adjust to your own eyes.

02 / FIND THE SHAPE

Move the story around.

Arrange chapters and scenes in Plan. Bring scenes onto Plotwall, keep your own notes, and see connections in a different way.

03 / GET TO KNOW YOUR WORLD

People, places, possibilities.

Keep characters and locations close to the manuscript. Give them details, photos and room to become themselves.

NOTHING GOOD HAS TO HAPPEN IN ONE DRAFT

Try the other version.

Make a revision copy. Compare the original and revised text side by side, or simply keep writing. See what changed, what moved and what you added—without losing where you started.

One space. All the tools.

BUILT AROUND HUMAN CREATIVITY

Good defaults.
No last word.

The imagination belongs to you.
So does the last word.

We believe there should be a place where writing is entirely in human hands. No AI assistant to generate the next paragraph, rewrite your voice or make creative decisions for you. Just thoughtful tools for the work you want to do.

Words on Paper grew out of a writer’s wish for more freedom: to choose the colours, change the size of a card, arrange a story differently, and return to exactly where the work was left.

We care about those small things because writing is made of small things. A familiar place. A useful note. One more sentence.

We make the desk. You make it yours.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER

Is there AI inside the writing desk?

No. Words on Paper has no built-in AI generation, rewriting or chat assistant. It is a space for human creativity: you write the words, develop the characters and make the decisions.

Can I bring a book I have already started?

Yes. Import a Word (.docx) or Markdown (.md) manuscript. You can also export your book as a Word document.

What else is on the desk?

Alongside writing and planning, there is Plotwall for arranging ideas, Literary for time among quotations, and a writing log that records activity including imports and pastes.
